Dakshina Murthi Ashtakam

He who under delusion sees the Universe during sleep (on dreaming)
as though it is appearing outside, exactly like a city seen through the mirror,
on awakening (on realisation) see exactly the non-duality and see the real Self,
to Him the divine teacher, Sri Dakshinamurthi be this prostration.
This world, like an ankur(sprout) in the seed, it was one entity before
but later due to the effect Of maya on relation Of place and time was made
into different many varieties. He who like a magiscian and also like a great
Yogi on his own, give illusionary appearance (manifest oneself), to Him the
divine teacher, Sri Dakshinamurthi be this prostration.
I _ Sri
e, whose manifestations — which are themselves nothing but reality —
appear as the objects Of the world; He, who imparts to those who have
surrendered to Him, direct enlightenment through Vedic commandments
that, thou, art", and after the direct experience Of which there is no more any
return to the ocean of worldly existance.....
to Him the divine teacher, Sri
Dakshinamurthi be this prostration.
He whose intelligence (Brahman in the form of intelligence) "flashes"
outside through the eyes and other sense organs, just like the bright light of
great lamp placed in a jar Of having many holes, and after whose shining, the
whole universe of objects shines..
to Him the divine teacher, Sri
Dakshinamurthi be this prostration.
Those who are like women, children, blind and idiot, chatter under high
delusion, assume that the body, the life, sense organs (indriyas), wavering
intellect, the blankness as self (themself). He who destroys the great delusion
as a result Of the influence Of the power Of Maya, to Him the divine teacher,
Sri Dakshinamurthi be this prostration.

The Purusha due to the cover Of maya remained in deep Sleep with the
subdued sense organs, but remained in true self, equivalent to the eclipse of
Sun and Moon by Rahu, and he who on awakening recollects that he has slept
earlier, to Him the divine teacher, Sri Dakshinamurthi be this prostration.

He, who, through the auspicious sign of knowledge (jnana-mudra),
reveals to the devotees His own Self-which persists in all stages Of life
(childhood, boyhood, youth and old age) and in all other conditions... and
who constantly manifest Himself inwardly as "l" to Him the divine teacher,
Sri Dakshinamurthi be this prostration.
He who is the Purusha, whirled in Maya, sees in Himself the world of
cause-effect, diversely related as possessor and possession, father and son and
as the teacher and the taught, both in the state Of waking and dreaming... ...to
Him the divine teacher, Sri Dakshinamurthi be this prostration.

He, who present Himself, as animate and inanimate Universe, in eight
forms such as earth, water, fire, ether, sky, sun, moon, and Purusha and those
who try to find the truth, find there is no other matter except the Supreme
Omnipresent Brahman, to Him the divine teacher, Sri Dakshinamurthi be this
prostration.

Vedanta phil.: an elementary substance from which all things were
created (considered identical with Brahamn)
Thus, this slokas in what reason this all-Self-hood (knowledge of Atman)
was described elaborately; for that reason who study this and ponder over the
meaning thereof and meditate on this and chanting repeatedly, will attain the
glory of being all Self-hood which is God-hood (the nature of God). Further
for them , without any obstacle, will attain on its own, eight type Of
manifested wealth (divine glory).
The Knowledge of "'all-this-atman" (Sarva atmatvam) has been
explained in this hymn and so by hearing it, by reflecting and meditating upon
its meaning and by reciting it, one will attain that divine state, endued with
the glory Of the all-Self-hood, along with the permanent eight-fold holy,
powers of Godhood.
